So often, I can't enjoy a movie because a million ideas for my own movies swirl in my head. And more often than that, I can't enjoy a movie because I'm asking myself, "How did this get made and yet I can't sell one of my scripts?"
Wish I had an answer.
The thing I like most about screenplays is that I think visually, and write dialog well. When I write for my novel, I tend to start off a scene like you would expect...with narration, descriptions, a strong voice...and then sure enough, the scene devolves into simple dialog. The struggle I have with writing a screenplay is that I see the finished movie in my head and have to deconstruct it. I can taste the popcorn and soda as I'm watching the scene develop.
Which is weird, because usually I'm eating pretzels and drinking Bacardi and Coke when I write.
